Reared in Oakland, California, Malaku Quisada-McCray grew up with his single mother, and graduated from Berkeley High School. Thereafter he went on to attend Cal State Los Angeles and UCLA , majoring in Media Studies and Screenwriting. Malaku moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career in the arts after attending several workshops, acting classes, and working in various industry related jobs (costume design, wardrobe styling, producer assistant, personal assistant, image consultant and artist management).

In 2008 Malaku partnered with Dwayne Barnes to start the multi-faceted entertainment company, Rich King Entertainment Group. Through his company he has produced several short films (“Cocoa Love”, “Tensions”, “Truth Be Told”, “Hang N’ There”, and “This That and You”). He’s also produced, independent artist’s music videos, documentaries (“Stranded in the Motor City” and “The Trade Off”), and entertainment based events. Malaku has directed a produced a pilot starring ” Traci Lords and Rashad McCants entitled, “The Booster Club.” He followed this up with three pilot productions, including "The Rebounds," “Thicker Than Blood," and currently, the faith-based “Refugees.”
